The Cohasset Triathlon is proud to partner for the second consecutive year with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) for this event. The event’s net proceeds will go directly to JDRF. The 2007 race netted $50,219 in donation money to the JDRF!

The JDRF was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with juvenile, or Type 1, diabetes, who were desperate to find a cure for the disease as quickly as possible. Type 1 diabetes is a disease that strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications.
Kids with Type 1 diabetes no longer produce insulin, but without it, they cannot survive. Therefore, they must take insulin either through several shots each day or through an insulin pump which is inserted by catheter into the child and worn 24 hours a day.
These kids must also have their blood sugar levels checked by pricking their fingers as many as ten times throughout every day and night in order to keep them at safe levels. The short term effects of a severe low blood sugar can be dangerous, and the long term complications from high blood sugars can include heart disease, kidney failure, blindness and amputations.
JDRF is determined to find a cure for juvenile diabetes, and with your help, the Cohasset Triathlon can help get them closer to their goal. Thank you for your support!

Gathering sponsors to Help Cure Juvenile Diabetes
The proceeds from the race will be donated to JDRF, but we are encouraging you to do even more if you are able. This year our goal is to raise over $100,000 for diabetes research! We know it can be done, but we can’t do it without your help.
You will be achieving a great feat on June 29th, and the Cohasset Triathlon committee welcomes you to gather sponsors for your tremendous efforts.
Getting sponsored is easy. Here’s how:
- If you are registered for the triathlon but have yet to build a personal fundraising page click here.
- Click here for easy tips on how to raise money fast!
- Ask family, friends, and co-workers to visit your personal fundraising page to sponsor you. No amount is too small!
- All donations can be made with a credit card online or mailed-in check (make checks out to “JDRF” and send to the Cohasset Triathlon Association, 11 Linden Drive, Cohasset, MA 02025).
All donations will go directly to JDRF to help cure diabetes and its complication. It couldn’t be easier, and you can feel good about making a difference for a great cause!
