(click here to set one up)

On June 29th, I will be participating with approximately 800 other athletes in this year’s Cohasset Triathlon benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

I would like to use my efforts in the Triathlon to help raise money to find a cure for Type 1 – or juvenile – diabetes. Type 1diabetes is a disease that strikes swiftly and suddenly and carries with it the constant and lifelong threat of devastating complications including heart failure, kidney disease, blindness and amputation.

I have set a personal fundraising goal of $_____. I would appreciate any support that you could give me for this very worthwhile cause.

The JDRF was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with juvenile, or Type 1, diabetes, who were desperate to find a cure for the disease as quickly as possible. And JDRF has provided more funding for diabetes research than any other non-governmental agency in the world.

You can donate safely online through this page or if you would prefer you can send a check made out to “JDRF” to the Cohasset Triathlon Association at 11 Linden Drive, Cohasset, MA 02025. Please remember that no amount is too small and that every dollar brings us closer to a cure.

Thank you for considering this request for your support. If you have any questions about the Cohasset Triathlon and JDRF, please visit http://www.cohassettri.com.

Sincerely,

(Your Name)

Fundraising Tips

Raising money toward a cure for diabetes isn't difficult. All you have to do is:

  1. Set a goal: This very simple thing is the key to successful fundraising. For example, let's say you set a personal goal of $100...

  2. Meet your goal: It's not hard, just ask 10 people for $10

  3. Surpass your goal: It's as easy as writing a letter. The average letter – or online fundraising page - for an event like this raises over $2,000!

  4. Double your dollars: Ask if your employer has a matching gifts program. And ask your donors if their employers will match their gifts.

10 Days = $100!!!

It’s Easy! Just ask 10 people for $10!

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Put in your own $10

  2. Ask your significant other for $10

  3. Ask your boss for $10

  4. Ask a co-worker for $10

  5. Ask a friend for $10

  6. Ask your neighbor for $10

  7. Ask a relative for $10

  8. Ask your doctor for $10

  9. Ask another co-worker for $10

  10. Ask another relative for $10

Most people can comfortably ask people they know for $10 toward a good cause, but feel free to ask for more – or to ask for an open donation amount.
