The 2008 Race Field Cohasset, Massachusetts is the quintessential New England town and its location along the Atlantic coastline makes it the ideal place for a multi-sport event. It was this thinking that led Bill Burnett, director of the Cohasset Triathlon to create a triathlon that in only its 2nd year sold out in December of last year for the event date of Sunday, June 29th event. In addition to hundreds of local Massachusetts residents, this sprint distance triathlon includes 950 athletes from 15 different states. Among the total field size are thirty five ranked elite athletes including Team Psycho Elite Development Program Athletes Jarrod Shoemaker- U.S. team member at the 2008 Beijing Olympics *(see video below), Dede Griesbauer- Top American Woman (7th overall) at the 2007 Ironman World Championships (Kona, HI), and Karen Smyers- 1995 Ironman World Champion and 6 time U.S. Pro National Champion. Team Psycho will sponsor an elite prize purse out of its Elite Development Program. Prizes of $400, $200, and $150 will be handed out to each of the top three Elite finishers in both the Male and Female waves. The Cohasset Triathlon Association is pleased to announce partnerships with three Boston triathlon teams who have decided to compete in the Cohasset triathlon as a focus event this summer for their individual teams.
